Meet Zach & Laci
They want to make a difference in people's lives.
I have always had a really big heart for helping others!
Zach was in recovery himself, but wanted to help other people with the same background. He started at a four-year school, but dropped out, and ended up in treatment for dependency. He had a counselor that made a big impact on his life and decided to start fresh at CVTC in the AODA program.
Laci had family members who struggled with substance abuse. She knew that knowledge is power and felt it was her duty to learn how to overcome addiction and spread the message to others. She cares deeply for children and wants to stop addiction from a young age. She hopes to use prevention to help her younger siblings and other kids make good choices.
During classes they learn the tools through hands-on lab work in mock counseling sessions with their classmates. They practice how to keep conversations active and learn to empathize on an individual basis.
The class has formed a strong friend group, and the two feel they are all in the program together, helping each other learn the tools to make a difference in people’s lives. Their goal is to use their past experience to create a brighter future for people!
