Meet Sabrina & Se
They were looking to follow their passion and encourage others to do the same.
Creating a Community and Giving Back
Sabrina went through high school unsure what she wanted to do or how to turn her passions into a profession. Before graduating, she had a child and worked in daycare for a bit after high school but knew it wasn't her true calling.
After deciding to continue her education, she wanted to find a career where she could help people and use her hands. She also needed a school close to home and a fast degree to support her growing family. Fortunately, she found all those things in CVTC's Cosmetology program.
Immediately she knew she was in the right place, saying the instructors communicated what needed to be learned while giving her plenty of hands-on experience to feel confident in her abilities.
Sabrina worked at other salons for years but knew she had the leadership skills and ideas to run her own business. She credits her clients for giving her the push she needed to start Saylon Seven. Her goal is to provide the community with something different, where everyone can feel comfortable and welcome.
Se began work at the salon as a front desk receptionist. However, she knew she wanted more professionally and was inspired by the stylists. With Sabrina's support, she decided to enroll in the CVTC Cosmetology program and now also serves as a stylist.
Sabrina now gives back to the College by speaking to current students and providing graduates with opportunities like she did for Se. She says CVTC gave her the building blocks for success and still gives her the passion to keep going into the future!
