Is the Landscape, Plant & Turf Management Program Right For You?
Is CVTC’s Landscape, Plant & Turf Management program right for you? Let’s take a look at what you can expect and the opportunities available to you.
You Can Succeed
Would you rather walk on grass or the soil of a garden than on the carpeted floors of an office? Does the idea of watching plants grow and change daily interest you more than looking at a computer screen? The chance to work outside with varieties of flowers, vegetables, trees and shrubs is a big part of the attraction for students who enter the Landscape, Plant & Turf Management program.
They are also self-motivated people who like to work with their hands and see the results of their creative and physical labors. Imagine having a vision of how the land could be beautified with a landscape plan, or how the turf of a golf course or athletic field could be brought to peak condition, then seeing it all take shape from your labors. Or think of nurturing plants that will help beautify someone’s home or property, or nourish their family when it is time to harvest from the garden.
Students in the Landscape, Plant & Turf Management program know they are headed for careers in which they will avoid the tedium of daily repetitive work. Their work will change constantly, as plants grow and seasons change. Their work days follow the rhythms of nature.
If you are literally ready to dig into your work, then success awaits you in the CVTC Landscape, Plant & Turf Management program.

You’ll be in Demand
Graduates of CVTC’s Landscape, Plant and Turf Management program are working all over the area in the horticulture industry. Employers seek them out. “The people in CVTC’s Landscape, Plant & Turf Management program are people who want to be in the industry,” said Dave Welke, owner of Premium Lawn Service in Eau Claire. “They want to be here. They have the knowledge of the industry already and they want to learn more. We have six or seven graduates of the program who are on our staff now. We have one who graduated about four years ago and he’s a designer for us now. Others are crew leaders.” “We've enjoyed utilizing CVTC interns in our business,” said Julie Stunkel of Natural Touch Landscaping in Elk Mound. “We feel they come to us with a broad range of information and we are able to help hone in on their strengths and provide opportunities to grow in their area of choice. It is beneficial to us to hire those interns, as they now have a good scope of book knowledge and hands-on experience.”
