National Corvette Day has CVTC Faculty Reminiscing
On National Corvette Day, June 30, we asked automotive programs faculty about their favorite vehicles. Here are their responses:

My favorite car? I really don’t have one in particular. Throughout my life, I’ve owned more than 15 GMC/Chevy trucks. I worked at a GMC Dealership Collision Center, so I guess I’d go with the GMC Sierra 1500 Denali as my favorite. I am currently rebuilding a 1972 Chevrolet C10 pickup, although the progress gets stalled every now and then. As far as favorite vehicles that I have driven, it’s a toss-up between the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 or the Audi R8. I was responsible for the development of collision repair training courses for these two “super cars,” so I am pretty fond of both.

For me my favorite car I ever owned was a 1991 Mazda 626DX manual shifting transmission. It was my second car I ever owned, her name was Marsha and she had a hole in the gas tank so I could only fill it up half way! Perhaps it was the love of shifting gears or cruising the back country roads of Wisconsin with the windows rolled down the year I was serving Wisconsin Association of FFA as a State FFA Parliamentarian. For me, it is the great memories I have traveling in my car that make it my favorite.
The Quiz Question:
What was the only year since 1953 where only ONE Chevrolet Corvette remains. Can you name the year?
The Answer:
In 1983, when production of the Corvette moved from St. Louis to the Bowling Green assembly plant, the only 1983 model year Corvette in existence is on display in the National Corvette Museum. The story might be stranger than fiction. Read about it here.
