Students who succeed in the program and in the construction business are self-driven, and take initiative on the job, and like to work with their hands. They are not afraid to do physical labor along with the parts of the job that call on them to think and problem-solve. The nature of the residential construction industry provides the motivation for the work involved. Opportunities Abound
Graduates of CVTC’s Residential Construction program typically start out as general construction laborers, but much more awaits them as they combine the knowledge and experience they gained in the program with the growth gained from having more projects under their belt. It doesn’t take long for a job site lead to see who has potential. Within nine months to two years, CVTC graduates often become crew leaders.
With leadership experience, project manager positions are within grasp. And about a quarter of CVTC Residential Construction graduates eventually show an entrepreneurial spirit that leads them to start their own businesses in construction, home repair and remodeling.
