Is CVTC’s Mechanical Design program right for you? Let’s take a look at what you can expect and the opportunities available to you.

You Can Succeed

Do you like to understand how things work? Do you enjoy creating drawings and 3-D models? If you have a good grasp of basic principles of engineering, have an interest in how things are manufactured, yet also have a strong creative side, CVTC’s Mechanical Design program could be the right choice for you.

Students in the Mechanical Design program learn to help companies develop products and machines to solve problems and perform tasks. To do this, they need to understand how a machine works or the purpose in developing a product. They use computer-assisted design software and their own creativity to develop solutions. Having a role in developing a well-designed product provides a tremendous sense of satisfaction.

Opportunities Abound

CVTC brought back the Mechanical Design program due to employer demand. They are seeking employees to work with engineering teams creating, modifying, and testing the components the company manufactures.

Graduates of the program will work on projects from conception to finish, using CAD software to create 3-D models and drawings. In the end, their work will not just be images on a screen, but an object they can see and hold.

Companies will seek out Mechanical Design graduates who can work with their customers and suppliers to create new products.

You'll Be In Demand

Area manufacturers are anxious to hire CVTC Mechanical Design graduates as the come available.

“Each year at Realityworks look forward to new and inspiring ‘mechanical’ talent released into the hiring marketplace,” said Michael Zaborowski, a mechanical engineer at Realityworks in Eau Claire. “CVTC’s Mechanical Design program and the skills that come from the program are a perfect fit for our ever-growing company. Realityworks products are more than just a spinning widget. We solve real-world issues with real-world products that yield real-world results. CVTCs Mechanical Design program works for us!”

“At W.S. Darley & Co. we are anxious to hire CVTC Mechanical Design graduates because they come to us already equipped with the skill set required to succeed in industry,” said Lean Manager Amanda Normand. “The Mechanical Design program at CVTC offers a streamlined approach to learning and gets students on the fast track to successful careers in industry. We value the hands-on learning approach that CVTC offers. It gives us confidence that the students will have already experienced real-world applications before graduation. This makes them a very valuable asset in our business.”
