3 Ways Technical Colleges and Chambers of Commerce Support Communities Together

Man in manufacturing

Tea Moscinski knows firsthand that business chambers thrive when connected to as many businesses in the community as possible – including technical colleges.

Moscinski has been the Neillsville Area Chamber of Commerce director for more than a year and said that with Chippewa Valley Technical College in its backyard, the Chamber appreciates the important connection.

In fact, CVTC will be involved in the Chamber’s Business After 5 event in the Neillsville industrial park from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20. With a donation of a back-to-school item, the public will receive an entry into a door prize. Attendees are encouraged to tour the Mayville Engineering Company, play games and have snacks while networking.

But why does the relationship between chambers and technical colleges thrive? Let us count a few of the ways.

  1. The Chamber is able to connect local businesses with additional education and resources through CVTC, Moscinski said. “CVTC offers starter, refresher and advanced classes for anyone to enjoy,” she said.
  2. The Chamber promotes all businesses, including CVTC. “The opportunity for us to promote CVTC as an educator in the community with our local businesses is a great asset to all.”
  3. The Chamber is able to help recent college graduates find career opportunities in the community. “Neillsville and the surrounding community has a lot to offer,” Moscinski said. “If high school graduates are looking to join the workforce right away, with CVTC in our community, those people are able to take advantage of courses that help those graduates stay in the community they love. College graduates also are able to thrive in an environment, like Neillsville, where they know they will be most comfortable.”

Moscinski said everyone, including students and recent graduates, will have an opportunity to check out what jobs Neillsville area businesses have to offer during the Business After 5 event.

“We are hoping to educate the community,” she said. “The vast business of manufacturing is something people may not understand. We are excited to be opening these businesses up for tours to show the stages, materials and the impact they make not only in Neillsville but around the world.”
