Is CVTC’s Truck Driving program right for you? Let’s take a look at what you can expect and the opportunities available to you.

You Can Succeed

Do you like to drive and travel to different parts of the area or the country? Would you rather have variety in the places you work than be stuck in the same building every day? If so, CVTC’s Truck Driving program offers you a pathway to a life of earning your living on the open road.

Successful truck drivers like variety in their everyday work, can work shifts with limited supervision, and are good at time management. But they also need to be able to think critically and adapt to different situations they face on the road. They enjoy working by themselves and are comfortable being behind the wheel for long shifts.

If this sounds like you, CVTC’s Truck Driving program might be the right choice for you.

Opportunities Abound

CVTC graduates have options in pursuing careers in truck driving. Some may become over-the-road drivers traveling across the country, taking advantage of the opportunity to see the country. Others may drive on in a regional area, staying in Wisconsin and Minnesota or other nearby Midwestern States. There are also many opportunities for local drivers. Their advantage is to be able to stay at home with their families every night.

After logging some years of experience as a driver, some graduates move on to positions as driver trainers or dispatchers.

And of course the opportunity will be there for professional truck drivers who want to be independent, owning their own rigs and starting their own trucking companies.

You'll be in Demand

The Chippewa Valley, as well as the entire nation, has a shortage of truck drivers. That makes competition for good drivers in high demand among companies throughout the area, and CVTC graduates are particularly prized.

“Halvor Lines and CVTC Truck Driver Training Program have a great partnership. We have found that drivers completing the truck driving course have the necessary driving skills that we require to operate a safe and profitable company,” said Debbie Landry, director of driver services for Halvor Lines in Superior.
