Meet Zaid

They have open labs and they have open arms for everyone.

Building a New Future

Zaid knew he needed to make a significant change to pursue his dreams, and he knew if he made this decision, he would need to do it with passion and confidence.

Originally from Iraq, he studied technology and mechanical engineering and worked with U.S. troops as a translator. With his homeland in an unstable situation, he decided to take a leap, leaving his job and family to move to the United States in 2019.

He started by joining CVTC's English Language Learning program to acclimate himself with his new home and now has started classes as an Automation Engineering Technology program student. He credits the staff and students at the College for making the experience feel like a family because CVTC has open labs and open arms for everyone.

He says that with a degree from CVTC, he will easily find a job and wants to start a career as a control or design engineer. He loves being here and wants to build his life in Wisconsin.
