Mechatronics Technician Overview

Find your future in industrial mechanics, the fast-growing field in the manufacturing industry. CVTC’s one-year, technical diploma program will prepare you to install, maintain, operate, diagnose, and repair automated equipment used in manufacturing industries.

You will learn cutting-edge technologies in this program and gain the following skills:

  • Mechanical equipment installation, disassembly, and assembly
  • Electrical control, motor drives and PLC (programmable logic controllers) wiring, installation, and troubleshooting
  • Hydraulic & pneumatic installation and troubleshooting
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Laser shaft alignment
  • Variable frequency drives installation/repair
  • Conveyor systems operations
  • Welding
  • Industrial Manufacturing machine troubleshooting

This program starts every 8 weeks allowing you to start at a time that is convenient for you. You can start at multiple points throughout the year. The program also offers day and evening options.

PMMI Certification

The courses in this short-term technical diploma are tied to The Association of Packaging and Processing Technologies (PMMI) Certification - Level 1 tests - Industrial Electricity 1, Fluid Power 1, Programmable Logic Controllers 1, and Mechanical Components 1.

Sample Courses

Centrifugal Pumps & Alignment
Students will gain a basic understanding of centrifugal pumps, theory of operation, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of pumps and their systems. Students will work with Laser Alignment, and advanced linear slides, brakes, and clutches.

Repair Automated Manufacturing Equipment
The set-up and operation of the machinery and repair of such equipment and components on the equipment will be performed.

Hydraulic System Operations
Students will experience exercises with basic hydraulic components and simple oil systems and how they are applied in circuits.

Most of the program is hands-on stuff in the lab and the rest is done on the computer. It’s all self-paced throughout the week, so you have a lot of flexibility. I usually come in three days a week and I have plenty of time to get stuff done.
