Strategies & KPIs

Strategy 2.1: Define and disaggregate data to increase equity and access across our service area and utilize data-informed decision making related to student success.

KPI Alignment: Graduation (Target – 85% for 1-yr; 55% for 2-yr) and Transfer (14% college-wide; 25% for UT)

Objectives:

  1. Identify and address program completion gaps for all students.
  2. Enhance non-academic services and interventions for students.
  3. Ensure equitable participation in dual credit opportunities across the CVTC district to align with regional high school demographics.
 

Strategy 2.2: Improve student retention and completion.

Objectives:

  1. Execute planned support services for all gateway courses at CVTC.
  2. Adopt the Guided Pathways framework across programs.
  3. Increase awareness of and access to non-academic services for students with an emphasis on mental health services.
  4. Integrate and scale Persistence & Completion initiatives developed through data-informed course and program-level improvement efforts.
 

Strategy 2.3: Enhance offerings and services for non-traditional and part-time students.

Objectives:

  1. Increase student engagement opportunities across all campuses and create intervention methods to fit student needs.
  2. Adapt program design and delivery to fit the needs of students.

The Strategic Planning chairs had a busy June & July, presenting to the district board, presenting to internal CVTC staff, and presenting at the College Compass update. The strategic plan is set and the implementation phase has already begun.  For the Student Success Team, one of the first items that will be introduced is Guided Pathways.  At the fall faculty in-service there will be more information on the work that is already being done around the college, work that needs to continue, and areas we can improve our guided pathways mission.  As we near the fall semester our advisors will begin using Degree Works, which will also help track student success and is a crucial part of our plan.

As we begin August it is a time to reflect upon what we are doing to help our students and what we can improve upon for this semester.  We look forward to seeing everyone back in the classrooms doing what they do best!

The Student Success Strategy Team has had a busy month updating and aligning the strategy to existing college initiatives and combining objectives for a clear understanding of the plan.

The Student Success Strategy Team has had a busy month updating and aligning the strategy to existing college initiatives as well as condensing and combining objectives for a clear understanding of the plan.  Earlier in May, the plan was presented to the President’s Cabinet for review, and as a result of that meeting, subgroups were formed to continue the focused work of updating and aligning the plan.  Key Performance Indicators were assigned to the Student Success Strategy.  All objectives and tactics will relate back to at least one of these three KPIs.

KPIs for Student Success:

  • Graduation Rate
  • Transfer Rate
  • Graduate Placement

Over the course of the month, the Student Success strategy saw minor changes in the language used and condensed objectives down to ensure alignment with the KPIs.  Later in May, the team met to ensure consistency with the new language used, and final preparations were made for a presentation to be given to the CVTC District Board members at the end of June.

The Student Success Strategy Team met to review action strategies after feedback from the Steering Committee and begin working on who will be the implementation leads for the action strategies.

The Student Success Strategy Team met to review action strategies after feedback from the Steering Committee and begin working on who will be the implementation leads for the action strategies. Key performance indicators for the action strategies were reviewed and adjusted to best-fit student success baseline metrics.  A first draft of the student success strategy will go to the president’s cabinet for review and feedback next month.
