Students at Chippewa Valley Technical College continue to celebrate Arbor Day each year by planting trees throughout the College’s campuses.

Last week, Landscape Plant and Turf Management program students planted a variety of trees at the College’s Energy Education Center to increase the diversity of trees on campus, said Sean VanderWaal, the program's instructor.

“The planting serves as a component of our Tree Campus USA standing, which we received again this year,” VanderWaal said. “This is a tradition we hope to continue well into the future.”

Matt Staudenmaier, Eau Claire city forestry supervisor, taught students lessons about proper care when transplanting trees.

“Teaching students to plant trees properly is great knowledge for them, helps our groundskeepers and is a great life skill,” VanderWaal said. “Everyone benefits.”
