Emergency Medical Technician 2 - Evenings
CVTC and local high schools have partnered to offer students who are at least 17 years old and interested in pursuing a career in healthcare an opportunity to earn high school and college credit. Dual credit academies give high school students a chance to navigate their interests and career options to develop the most successful individualized career path. Credits earned through this academy may be applied to CVTC programs and transfer to other colleges.
The Emergency Medical Technician course prepares students
for all aspects of emergency medical care, both medical and
trauma situations, sanctioned by the Wisconsin Division of
Health. Following the most current Wisconsin Revision of the
National Standard Curriculum, this course includes didactic
practical skill information in the following areas: legal aspects,
anatomy and physiology, patient assessment, critical thinking
skills, fractures and dislocations, pharmacology, altered mental
status,ambulance operations, and more. Successful completion
of this course prepares the learner for the National Registry
practical and written examination at the EMT level. Upon
successful completion, candidates will be eligible to participate
in the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician exam
for Wisconsin EMT Certification.

Prerequisite: Successfully complete EMT 1 with an 80% or higher and 17 years old
*Face to face skills sessions will be required once a week with two options to choose from each week.
*Students must be 18 years old for licensure
Course Descriptions
531 - 313 Emergency Medical Technician 2
Advances on the foundation concepts of Part 1 to include pharmacology, pathophysiology, operating an ambulance, and medication administration. Students will also complete a clinical rotation in a hospital Emergency Department. Upon successful completion, candidates will be eligible to participate in the National Registry of EMTs Emergency Medical Technician exams for Wisconsin EMT licensure.
