469-302Gas Utility Field Training 15469-315 or concurrentIn this course we will begin our look at the construction equipment safety and operation (shovel, trenching, plowing, mini-ex digging, backhoe, boring), equipment maintenance, gas safety and vehicular safety. We will begin our learning about backfilling and restoration after a project. We will begin our learning about fusing plastic pipe to create leak free joints using butt fusion and introducing socket fusion. We will introduce industry standard Computer Based training and testing as a class.

469-304Gas Utility Field Training 25469-302 and 469-306 and 469-340 or concurrentWe will continue our learning about creating leak free joints in plastic pipe using butt fusion, electrofusion, socket fusion, and saddle fusion. Natural gas line installation and standards for plastic pressure testing, fusion, leak detection procedures, general installation procedures and repair of plastic mains and services, as well as mapping GIS systems. We will begin our look at pressure regulation. We will learn about the process and procedures for pipe stoppage in various scenarios. We will learn gas metering. We will continue with the industry standard Computer Based training and testing both as a class and individually.

469-306Gas Utility Field Training 35469-304 and 469-340 or concurrentInstallation and repair of Propane tanks and services, maintenance, line testing and leak detection procedures, approved safety installation procedures using hand tools and supportive equipment. We will introduce the importance of customer service in the Propane and Natural Gas industries. We will begin our look at residential house piping and continue our look at pressure regulation for both Natural Gas and Propane. We will introduce the industry standard Computer CETP training and testing.

469-340Basic Elect for Gas Utility1469-315 and 469-304 and 469-306 or concurrentElectron theory, electrical terms, Ohm's Law, DC and AC circuits, magnetism and magnetic devices, electrical measurements, inductance and capacitance. We will focus on Cathodic Protection systems including rectifiers and how we use electricity to protect metal pipes both in the ground and above ground from leaks caused by corrosion.

Students will acquire practical, business-related skills through reading, writing, revising, and grammar exercises. Additionally, they will polish a resume, practice their interview skills, explore a company's background, assess and refine their personal career goals, and establish a purpose for writing in their career field.

We will be using industry standard online learning and testing as well as hands-on learning opportunities. We will continue our computer-based training and testing as practiced in the industry.

601-341Basics of Gas Appliances2469-340 and 469-310 or concurrentIn this course you will learn electrical principles, reading wiring schematics, introductory wiring, heating principles, how combustion works, function of the gas-valve, sequence of operation, and trouble-shooting of natural and propane gas appliances.

809-351Occupational Relations2This course is designed to provide the student with a basic understanding of the human relations skills necessary to succeed in a total quality work environment. This will include workplace trends, team-building skills, customer and co-worker relations, attitude and motivation, safety and stress management, diversity, employment law, and financial and benefits planning.
