526-250Adult Cardiac Scanning & App3Program student; RDMS Test Score; Corequisite: 526-252Prepares learners to perform echocardiography ultrasounds. Emphasis is placed on cardiac anatomy and sonographic appearances, cardiovascular physiology and hemodynamics, indications and protocol for echocardiography studies, cardiovascular pathophysiology, sonographic technique, measurements, and Doppler patterns.

526-251Adv Cardiology & Procedures3Program student; 526-250 and 526-252; Corequisite: 526-253Prepares learners with advanced knowledge of echocardiography ultrasounds. Emphasis is placed on specialized echocardiography exams, quantitation principles and flow, clinical pharmacology related to echocardiography, pathological cardiac processes, clinical cardiology, alternative cardiac procedures, and differential diagnoses for echocardiography findings.

526-252DMS Cardiac Clinical Exp 12Program student; RDMS Test Score; Corequisite: 526-250Introduces general & vascular sonographers to the performance of introductory echocardiography exams at an approved clinical location. Emphasis is placed on basic cardiac scanning techniques, windows, protocols, identifying anatomy and relational structures, differentiation between normal and pathological disease processes, and optimizing images using 2D, M-mode, and Spectral (PW), Color, and Continuous Wave Doppler. One mandatory weekend scan lab is required.

526-253DMS Cardiac Clinical Exp 22Program student; 526-250 and 526-252; Corequisite: 526-251Prepares learners for the rigor of entry-level echocardiography scanning at an approved clinical location. The scanner will demonstrate proficiency in a variety of cardiac scanning techniques including use of stress echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, and the use of contrast with an emphasis identifying and documenting cardiac pathology and diseases.
