Visit us at the Energy Education Center
At the Energy Education Center, you can learn in a building that is itself a learning laboratory. From a geothermal heating and cooling system, to water recycling and visible mechanical systems, the building features serve as examples of the principles taught in the classes there. The building includes labs for horticulture, agriculture, and architectural design; plus a hot lab for the Electrical Power Distribution program; and a fully equipped heating, ventilation, and air conditioning lab. Students and the public use the commons area and a 100-person capacity conference center. The building is Eau Claire’s first LEED Gold Certified facility.
The grounds contribute to the learning environment. Students work in a greenhouse, high tunnel, and with landscaping features. Wind and solar energy units supply power and learning opportunities. Truck Driving students gain experience at a driving range, and agriculture students have access to a 16-acre crops area. Bee hives are cared for by a popular beekeeping class.
