CVTC Campus Closure Policy
Purpose
This policy establishes campus academic and operational impacts during inclement weather and other emergencies, and is applicable to all students, employees, student employees, and visitors at Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) campuses.
Circumstances that may require that individual or all CVTC campuses be closed include but are not limited to inclement weather such as snow, ice, tornadoes, and other weather-related conditions; utility outages (power, water, etc.), building infrastructure (heating, cooling, network), flood, fire, chemical spills, air pollution advisories, and other similar disasters; and acts of violent crime, terrorism and other major threats to personal and community safety.
Policy
The safety of students, employees, student employees, and visitors is paramount. At the same time, CVTC has important teaching, services, and economic impact missions, and must maintain continuous and effective business operations with essential and critical personnel. With due consideration to safety, CVTC campuses will remain open and operate normally to the greatest extent possible.
Students, employees, and visitors should evaluate their own circumstances carefully, exercise appropriate judgment, and take responsibility for their safety when making decisions during an emergency.
The President or designee will determine if an individual or all CVTC campuses close, have an early closure, have a delayed opening, or are operating remotely. CVTC campus closure decisions may differ from campus to campus and those of other institutions of higher education or K-12 institutions. Students, employees, and visitors are expected to comply with instructions provided by the CVTC administration.
