Loans
Student loans, unlike grants and work-study, are borrowed money that must be repaid with interest. These loans cannot be canceled because you didn't get a job in your field of study or because you are having financial difficulty. Loans are legal obligations, so before you take out a student loan think about the amount that you will have to repay in the years after graduation.
Veterans Benefits
CVTC has a long history of providing education and training to all service members who are seeking to gain new skills, enhance existing skills, and translate skills learned in the military for use in the civilian world. Our Veteran Services office assists students with the GI Bill® process and serves as a liaison between various federal agencies, state agencies, and the College.
Work Study
The Federal Work-Study Program provides jobs for students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses.
Grants
Grants are monies that under normal circumstances do not need to be repaid. The following grants are awarded at Chippewa Valley Technical College: Federal Grants, Private Grants, Wisconsin State Grants, United Way of Greater Chippewa Valley - Micro Grants.
Scholarships
Scholarships are funds that normally do not need to be repaid. They can be based on merit, financial need, or other criteria set by each scholarship. Students at CVTC have access to CVTC scholarships and private donor scholarships.

You can pay for your tuition and fees online using a bank account, credit, or debit card.
Payment Plans
CVTC offers convenient online options to pay for your tuition and fees. You can use the online bill pay or set up an automatic payment plan. Both options allow you to manage your account and set up authorized users to view or make payments on your account. You will receive text and email notices of your e-bill through the online system.

Financial Aid Checklist
Complete the checklist below if you wish to apply for federal and state grants, federal loans, or the federal work study program.
Step 1:
Apply for Admission to CVTC
You must be accepted into a financial aid eligible program at CVTC to receive aid. You can complete the admissions application at anytime, however, your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will not be processed until you are accepted into a financial aid eligible program.
You may proceed to step two while your admissions application is in progress.
Step 2:
Apply for Financial Aid - FAFSA
CVTC's Federal school code is 005304.
Applying for Financial Aid is a two-step process:
- Request a FSA ID by going to Federal Student Aid site.
- Fill out the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA).
After you submit your FAFSA you will receive a FAFSA Submission Summary.
Step 3:
Complete Documentation
Return the documents requested by the financial aid office within two weeks of receiving the request. Financial aid applications will not be processed otherwise. Make sure to include your student ID on all submitted documentation.
Your award notification will be sent to your CVTC student email account and will explain how to access your financial aid award amounts in your Student Information System (SIS). To be eligible for student loans your enrollment status must be at least half time, 6 credits.
Determining Financial Need
CVTC determines how much you and your family can contribute by assessing the information you submit on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). To calculate this need, the federal government has developed a uniform calculation to determine how much each family is expected to contribute towards educational costs. After your level of financial need has been determined, CVTC will provide a financial aid package that will include all or some of the following forms of aid: grants, loans, and student work study.
Tuition & Fees for 2024-2025 Academic Year
Tuition is defined as program fees, material fees, supplemental fees, and other class fees. Other class fees may include books, equipment, field trips, uniforms, and graduation. Our program catalog has the estimated costs for each program. CVTC has a reciprocity agreement between Wisconsin and Minnesota which enables a Minnesota resident to attend CVTC and pay Wisconsin tuition. Residents of all other states are considered out-of-state.

Estimated Cost of Attendance
Cost of Attendance (COA) is a total of all the usual expenses of being a student.
The COA sets the maximum amount of financial aid a student can receive.
