Intro to Health Information Technology
CVTC and local high schools have partnered to offer students entering grades 9 - 12 an opportunity to take courses and explore what health information technology is all about. Students will learn the technical aspects of managing patient information, supporting electronic health records, organizing & trending patient data, and examining healthcare law as it pertains to the protection, access, disclosure and privacy & security of patient information. Students interested in healthcare and working in a medical facility that enjoy working with other people, organizing data, and working with computers would be an excellent fit. Students who complete these courses could be hired in the medical field as a medical office, health unit, or appointment coordinator after completing the academy. All courses are available online to offer flexible scheduling to meet diverse student schedules and needs. These courses are part of our Health Information Management & Technology Associate Degree. It is recommended that students successfully complete medical terminology before enrolling in this academy.
